What duka.bio does
- Gives a seller their own shop link (yourname.duka.bio) to share on TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp and anywhere else.
- Lets customers order products, book services and buy event tickets from that shop.
- Takes payment by M-Pesa or card, and shows the seller their orders, bookings and payments in one place.
What duka.bio does not do
- We are not a bank and we do not hold your money. Payments are taken and paid out by Paystack, a licensed payment company, to the M-Pesa number, till or bank account the seller chooses.
- We do not sell anything ourselves. Each shop is run by its seller. The seller sets the prices, delivers the goods, gives the service or runs the event, and handles returns.
- We do not deliver goods. Delivery is arranged by the seller.
Your shop
- You must be 18 or older and give true details.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself. You are responsible for what is done in your shop.
- Sell only what you have the right to sell and what is legal in Kenya. Describe it truthfully, with real photos and real prices.
- Use your customers' details only to serve them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle them.
Price
- Free for up to 10 products, for as long as you like. Starter is KSh 999 a month and Pro KSh 2,499 a month.
- duka.bio takes no cut of your sales.
- The only charge on a sale is Paystack's fee of 1.5% of each payment, taken as the money comes in. Paying it out to you is free. M-Pesa may also charge the customer its usual fee, as for any M-Pesa payment.
- Paystack pays the money out two days after the customer pays. A payout that would fall on a Saturday or Sunday comes on Monday, so Thursday’s, Friday’s and Saturday’s sales arrive together on Monday. A public holiday moves it to the next working day.
- Plans are paid in advance. If a plan is not renewed, the shop goes back to the Free plan.
- If prices change, we tell you at least 30 days before. The new price applies from your next payment.
For customers
- You buy from the seller, not from duka.bio. Questions about an order, delivery, a booking or an event go to the seller first; their WhatsApp is on their shop.
- A payment counts once the payment company confirms it. You get a confirmation with your reference.
- Refunds are between you and the seller. For bookings: a deposit counts toward the price; if you do not come, the seller keeps it; if the seller cancels, the deposit is refunded.
- Keep your ticket code to yourself. Each ticket lets one person in once.
- If a seller does not deliver what you paid for and does not answer, tell us with your order reference. We will look into it and may close a shop that cheats its customers.
Fair use
Do not use duka.bio to sell anything illegal, to cheat customers, to send people messages they did not agree to, or to try to get into other people's shops or our systems. We may hide a product or close a shop that does, usually after telling the seller.
When things go wrong
- We work to keep duka.bio running at all times, but it depends on the internet, WhatsApp, M-Pesa and Paystack. If one of them is down, messages or payments can be late. We fix what is ours as fast as we can.
- As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for what a seller sells or fails to deliver, for wrong details entered in a shop, or for outages of services we do not run.
- If we are found responsible, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the 3 months before the problem.
Leaving
- You can close your shop whenever you like. Paid plans are not renewed unless you pay again.
- You can ask for a copy of your orders and customers before you go.
- We can close a shop that breaks these terms, after telling the seller and giving time to fix it where we can.
Changes and the law
When these terms change we update the date at the top and tell sellers about important changes before they apply. These terms are under the laws of Kenya. If we cannot settle a disagreement by talking, it goes to the courts of Kenya.
